Grantmaking

This opportunity—our first open grant opportunity—was focused on helping communities thrive by supporting the work of local leaders, organizations, and coalitions. In particular, we sought to support organizations that are working with youth and young people within immigrant and refugee, LGBTQ+, and Tribal/Indigenous communities to reimagine leadership, livelihood, and governance.

We received over 200 applications and $50 million in requests from communities across the state. After careful consideration by a panel of five community advisors, we selected 28 applicants to receive $8 million in general operating support over the next three years. Our advisors noted that many of the unfunded applications made a strong connection to our overall goals, and the decision-making process was difficult. We wish we could have funded more of the good work happening around the state!
